SHAZAM®, the only nationwide independent debit network, processor and core provider serving community banks, has been named the Community BancService Corporation Inc. Service Provider of the Year. The honor was presented at the Community Banking Association of Illinois 51st Annual Convention & Exposition on Sept. 19 in Kansas City, Mo.
The award recognizes an association partner that consistently delivers superior customer service and innovative solutions that help community banks grow, improve profitability and gain efficiencies. Recipients must also demonstrate a strong commitment to community banking through active participation in CBAI events and national community banking affiliates.
“We’re humbled and honored to be recognized with this award,” said SHAZAM EVP and CBO Jace Day. “We value our partnership with CBAI and our shared commitment to providing community banks with the products and services they need to empower their customers and communities.”
Over the past year, SHAZAM reinforced its partnership with CBAI and Illinois community banks in several ways. SHAZAM VP of Client & Association Engagement Patrick Dix spoke at 11 CBAI group meetings on artificial intelligence and the future of payments. His presentation explored how AI is already enhancing payments, authentication and customer experience, while also addressing potential risks AI may pose to the banking industry in the future.
Mike Burke, SHAZAM senior financial crimes consultant, was also a consistent presence at CBAI events throughout the year, sharing his expertise in mitigating ATM jackpotting attacks. SHAZAM and CBAI co-hosted a free educational session that examined how ATMs are increasingly targeted by bad actors, outlining steps CBAI members can take to protect their banks.
At the executive level, SHAZAM EVP and COO Terry Dooley serves on the CBSC payments committee, where he regularly advises on payments-related issues, while SHAZAM EVP of Governmental & Community Affairs Dan Kramer worked closely with CBAI executives to influence legislation impacting community banking at the state and federal levels.
“SHAZAM’s unwavering commitment to community banks has been evident since the beginning,” said CBSC President Mike Kelley. “They are more than a vendor; they are a true partner with a proven track record of understanding what community banks need to remain competitive and relevant.”
SHAZAM has a long history of service to Illinois community banks. This year marks the 25th anniversary of its partnership with CBSC Inc., a subsidiary of CBAI. From the outset, the partnership has been about more than providing a preferred debit processing and ATM network provider. It has focused on ensuring community banks retain choice and flexibility to best serve their customers.
That commitment continues today as the partnership has expanded to include SHAZAM core processing, digital banking and document management services, in addition to its premium debit network and payments processing offerings.
