Paul’s involvement with SHAZAM began in 1999 when he joined the SHAZAM/ITS Inc. board of directors. He served on the board’s executive committee for 10 years and was chair from 2009 to 2012. In 2014, he was named executive vice president and chief operating officer, and in 2015 he became president and chief executive officer.
Before joining SHAZAM, Paul was chief operating officer at First American Bank from 1999 to 2014. His earlier banking career included serving as senior vice president at AmerUs Bank from 1996 to 1999 and holding several roles, including vice president, at Council Bluffs Savings Bank from 1980 to 1996.
Paul has served on industry boards including the Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corporation and Southwest Iowa AIB and was the founding president of the Progressive Bankers of Southwest Iowa. He has also served on the boards of civic organizations including Johnston Dollars for Scholars, Rebuilding Together Greater Des Moines and the Sertoma Club, and has been active with Habitat for Humanity, United Way and the Boy Scouts of America. An alumnus of Leadership Council Bluffs and Leadership Des Moines, Paul currently serves on the board of the Greater Des Moines Committee.
Paul earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Creighton University.
